Digital starter with timer AVS 100-DP
(Pulse-Pause Technique)
DEFINITION
This is a dependent, universal starter with timer which when
combined with ELT´s ballasts using the adequate socket and thanks to the innovative “Pulse-Pause” technique, ensures the ignition of High Pressure Sodium lamps from 50 to 1000W and of Metal Halide lamps from 35 to 1800W
ADVANTAGES AND GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS
With the “pulse-pause” technique the high voltage impulse time is reduced to a minimum and as a result the fatigue in the electronic gear and the emission of interferences are also reduced. The cycle lasts for approximately 20 minutes, of which high voltage impulses are only given for 5 minutes.
Amicroprocessor is also incorporated. In the case of a defect or burnt out lamp, this allows for 3 cycles of ignition after which the starter will stop working (see graphs).
The deactivated starter will automatically restart after the
restablishment of the voltage in themains.
It allows for a high charge capacity, which allows the starter to be installed at greater distances from the lamp.
ADVANTAGES OVER INDEPENDENT TYPE STARTERS
- Smaller and lighter
- Smaller own losses
- Allows greater distances from the lamp
- Less heating
- Totally silent
- Only one starter for the whole power range
ADANTAGES OVER OTHER DEPENDENT STARTERS
More reliable in the ignition of metal halide lamps, which allows them to be used with a wide range of High Pressure Sodium Vapour Lamps and Metal Halide Lamps.
Reduces the minimum time of high voltage impulses avoiding
fatigue in the gear.
OTHER CHARACTERISTICS
Operates with ballasts with an adequate socket. ELT has a large experience in manufacturing ballasts and guarantees the operation and long-life of the combination of ballast and starter. Are asually supplied with terminals with screws (admits a wires from 0,5 to 2,5mm ) but can be manufactured with a connection by cable or by special order with double insulation. To be installed in Class I or Class II luminaires. Fixed using metal boltM8
Avoids the classic switching on/off of burnt out lamps so saving energy. When the starter is deactivated the lamps are kept switched off making maintenance easier.
In those cases that a timer is not required, the same format without timer ismanufactured. This is calledAVS 100-D
Both type AVS 100-D and Type AVS 100-DP are interchangeable with the actualAVS 100-1

Pulse-Pause intervals in time
The dark area corresponds to the periods in which the starter is giving impulses and the white area to the periods in which it is not.
